Dog Troubles

Daddy likes to say, "It's SO much easier being able to leave the dogs outside."

Most of the time he is right, but sometimes...

...well, sometimes he is SO wrong.

Corn Maze

We went to our very first corn maze this weekend, along with our friends Steve and Alisha and baby Olivia, and Laura and Matt and their new doglet Gatsby.  Having never been to a corn maze before, we three didn't know quite what to expect.  Did you know the point of a maze is not to find your way through to the exit but rather to just wander around in the corn?  Madness!  At least, Mommy thought she was going mad.

Maaaadnessss!

Liam seemed less than impressed with the corn maze.

Group conference... "Where the heck ARE we?"

Liam was enamored with the barrel train.  We weren't sure he would like going by himself, so Mommy wedged herself in there with him.  He loved it, and he probably would have been ok riding that thing all day.  But at $2 per ride, he got one.

We fed a horsie.

This buffalo jumped over this fence and out of his pasture as our hay ride drove past.

Hay ride!

"This one is just my size!"

Daddy and Liam drove a tractor.  Ok, not drove... more like sat on and said, "Beep beep! Beep beep! Beep beep! Beep beep! Beep beep! Beep beep! Beep beep!"

What a long day... anyone else getting tired?

Liam loves Olivia.

We swung a little...

...played a little...

...rode a tractor or two...

...and went down a giant slide.

Even Steve and Olivia got in on the slide action.

Daddy and Liam played in the dirt a little more, and then it was time to head out.

On the way to car, Mommy and Liam shared an apple cider slushie (YUM!)...

...and some granola bar.

We can't wait until the next corn maze!

Merry Christmas-in-October!

Wow, we are really getting bad at posting. It's been two weeks again! Although, to be fair last week we were getting ready for Grandma J, Grandpa J, and Bethy to come and visit... and this week we were recuperating.

Saturday was a little bit of a lazy day - Liam, Grandma, and Grandpa played outside a lot, and Bethy and Mommy went thrifting.  Daddy worked on cleaning out the garage and started on the landscaping on the corner of the garage.

We love compost in this family!

Sunday after church we had Christmas.  Because we never know what the weather will be like at real-Christmas, we never know if we'll see the family then.  So we got it out of the way while they were here.  Liam got quite the haul!

A broom, brush, and dustpan - because he steals Mommy's when she tries to sweep.  (Also, Mommy's rocking chair - Grandpa built it for her when she was little.)

Our makeshift Christmas tree... aka, the part of the yew bush Daddy took out on Saturday.

Aunt Bethy brought a box, and inside the box were...

...Cabbage Patch dolls!...

...and a monkey puppet!

Liam LOVES his new babies.

Aunt Bethy also gave him a pop-up book about tractors, which we have read 4,538,296 times.  Seriously.

(Liam also got nice crayons and a new coloring book, which we're about 10 pages into already.)

On Monday morning (while a chicken was in the crockpot) we went to McCormick's Creek State Park for a hike to see the colors.  It was beautiful and quiet, unlike Brown County was sure to be.

Liam liked stomping on the wooden bridge.

He also rode on Daddy's shoulders for part of the hike.  He liked playing with Daddy's hat.

After the hike, we visited the playground.  Liam says, "Get on that swing, Aunt Bethy!"

Grandpa helped Liam on the slide...

...and Liam and Bethy swung some more.

On Monday Daddy and Liam also got haircuts: Mommy cut Daddy's for the first time, and Daddy cut Liam's again.  Grandma J got pictures, but hasn't sent them to us yet.

The family left on Tuesday morning.  What have we done this week?  Played A LOT.  We have been so busy we haven't gotten many pictures, but here are a couple...

Liam still loves his babies.

Why so serious?

See the towers Liam built all by himself?

There are those babies again!

Oh yeah, and Liam has started talking.  The most intelligible words so far are:
"Bah-doo" = Bounder
"Bee" = please
"Choo-choo" = train (obviously)
